An exquisite silver gilt singing bird box automaton.

 

This beautiful piece was made in Paris, France in around 1880. The case is crafted from solid silver with an unblemished rich gilt finish. Both movement and case are in excellent condition with the mechanism operating perfectly. The immaculate bird is heard singing in full voice as it flaps its wings, wags its tail and turns from side to side while its beak opens and closes in perfect synchronization with its song. The detail displayed on the case is outstanding, as is the rich colour and animation of the exquisite bird. The singing bird box automaton comes complete with its outer case and original winding key. In summary, this is a beautiful example of an antique singing bird box in excellent condition and perfect working order.
