A large 20 air two per turn mandolin music box made by Nicole Freres in 1875.

The finest workmanship is on show here including the engine turned patterning on the twin spring barrel motor. Large powerful springs drive the enormous cylinder enabling it to play for just over 37 minutes on a single wind. The tune programme consists of perfectly arranged and finely executed operatic pieces that are enhanced by the mandolin effect that is present here. The huge 20 air movement is housed within a very decorative and elegant case that rivals the quality of the Swiss movement housed inside. In summary, this finely crafted instrument is a perfect example of a high end Victorian musical box crafted by Nicole Freres of Geneva. A truly delightful piece of Victorian elegance.

Movement and case have been lovingly restored to the very highest of standards.
